Barbara gets an approving mention in Norman Lebrecht’s COMMENT in THE STRAD for her MUSICA UNIVERSALIS ARTISTS. We are very impressed that she decided to set up as a collaborative artists manager using all her knowledge, skills, instinct and passion for music and boldly go for it without serving an apprenticeship with one of the large, corporate agencies.

He wrote: A cellist friend, former BBC young musician of the year Guy Johnston, has walked out on his agent after suffering a surfeit of Dvoraks and Elgars. Guy is desperate to play the Walton, the second Shostakovitch and a spate of new music notably by Mark-Anthony Turnage. His solution is to link up with Barbara Maria Rathbone’s new co-op boutique Musica Universalis, and let the world know he will play anything except the obvious. It’s the bold thing, the right thing to do.

The music business lives in the past. Musicians must sieze control of the future. Start now.
