Guardian Media on TV comedy letter from me.

Posted in Bad comedy by sheelanagigcomedienne on February 21, 2011

Dear Editor,
Your piece on comedy on TV shows up that one of the problems of the comedy business is that it is so male and therefore lacking variety. There is so much macho posturing whether it is  panel shows, presenters and sit coms with plenty of grumpy old men. Channel 4 Head of comedy castigates ‘vociferous groups such as Mumsnet’ and there is even an apologist for the Clarkson mob warning broadcasters ‘not to neuter colourful voices’ after all people watch Top Gear for ‘school-boy humour’. What we need is more funny women and dirty old Nans not another fecking stringvestite or transvestite.

Yours truly,

Mrs Brown’s Boys, starting on BBC1 tonight, stars Brendan O’Carroll

Mrs Brown’s Boys is shite -another ugly man in drag talking dirty -it is puerile. Most of the people in the show are actually related to him – his woife, children, sister, in-laws etc. It sickens me that the likes of Brendan Carroll can sell this Irish emperor’s-new- clothes  rubbish to the BBC. It is NOT Father Ted meets BREAD.
