Sheela-na-Gig aka Jeanne Rathbone

I bought a piece of Grayson Perry pottery fragment as a pendant from Tate Britain.

I bought one of these quirky pendants as a piece of affordable art.  I love the piss take of the gaudy religious images and mention of the weird and creepy relics  purporting to be bits of bone, hair nails etc of Jesus or various saints which the gullible believe in!
I love Grayson Perry’s stuff and agree that Art Galleries are like secular cathedrals as well as the great outdoors when I am conducting an al fresco ceremony. My last one was a Naming at Fulham Palace Gardens and I always point how high the ceiling is of Nature’s wonderful cathedral.

Grayson Perry Reliquary Pendant

The blurb says Own your own piece of Grayson Perry pottery in this unique reliquary pendant and it comes with his quote in a little bag in a box.

“I think that the way we look at art comes from religion. We go to special buildings to stare at significant and precious things. We feel it is good for us. Tate Modern is a 21st century cathedral. Artists are saints and holy fools. Here is a relic of one of them to take home from your pilgrimage.” Grayson Perry
