My Last Song blog featured the funeral I took for Bernard on 6th March.

I found that the funeral I took on Tuesday 6th March at West Norwood Crematorium featured on this blog.

They recommended an excellent humanist celebrant, Jeanne Rathbone, who put the ceremony in a humanist context, understood and related Bern’s positive characteristics and personality and outlined the key events in his life without diluting the tributes that followed. She was most sympathetic and respectful, especially when relating Joy’s reminiscences of their childhood together.

Jeanne also augmented the readings by reciting two appropriate poems, If I Should Go by Joyce Grenfell and How Long Is A Man’s Life? by Brian Patten.

I didn’t know that one of the speakers ran this great website which, apparently, was cited as one of the best by a US funeral guru.In an unusual but growing niche market, the UK heads the US    A top ten list was compiled earlier this month by US funeral guru Brian Burkhardt. And heading the chart was London based My Last Song followed by The Good Funeral Guide, run out of Birmingham.

I was familiar with The Good Funeral Guide and Charles Cowling but had not come across My Last Song until today when Paul sent me the link. I graciously accept his compliment.
