Dominic Alldis gig at St.Luke’s

Posted in Dominic Alldis jazz singer pianist, St. Luke's Garden party and concert by sheelanagigcomedienne on June 14, 2012

We went to a charming concert at St. Luke’s  on Sunday which was preceeded by a garden party at the home of the Allott’s which overlooks Clapham Common. The Georgian house was designed by James Burton, son of Decimus.  For much of the last century it was a home for retired actresses. It was used for filming Rattigan’s The Wimslow Boy in 1998.

Dominic Alldis, jazz singer-pianist, provided the music accompanied by Andrew Cleyndert on bass and Adam Glaser on harmonica. The programme included songs by Coward, Porter, Michel Legrand and one of his own compositions based on nursery rhymes.

Anthony from St. Luke’s announced some of the programme for their 10th anniversary year – with Amanda Roocroft, The Sixteen, Barbara Dickson, Benjamin Grosvenor and the Endellion String Quarter and the Mozart Players as well as the two Festival Chorus concerts. They do very well for a small music society. I look forward to all these concerts.
