Petition to the Scouts/Guides International to stop excluding non religious children.

I have started a petition via change.org about the discriminatory Promise of the Scouts/Guides worldwide. It is, of course, a British imperialist export which was founded by Baden Powell who was sexist, militarist and founded his organisation for Christian boys. It needs to adapt and stop being an exclusive religious organisation.

Here it is. I would be grateful if you would sign it and get your friends/family whom you reckon would agree with it to sign also.

The opportunities that the Scouts and the Guides have to offer should be available to every child. I believe they need to update their practice and put love, education, opportunity and community at the heart of their organisation.

Because this is yet another example of how religious groups are actively practising discrimination in our society.

From Valerie: I simply believe in inclusivity. If we are all to live together in one society then children need to learn to pull together whoever they are and whatever they believe in. Without inclusivity we breed elitism.

Leslie: Children are too young to be fully aware of a religious promise. A MORAL promise maybe.
